[ there's like... the most miniscule flicker of recognition. like one of those things where you experience deja vu, but it's so minor you convince yourself you didn't. whatever happened, it's gone again. ]

The law got in the way of rock and roll? Shocking. [ it's teasing. he's going to feel like absolute garbage later, i'm so sorry klavier. ] Do you miss it?

I'm glad you found something else you care about that much. [ and he means that sincerely, and the way he's looking at him is curious but with some amount of respect, too. ] You could've taken the easy way out with music, but... sounds difficult. Being a lawyer, I mean.

[ but, because he currently has zero memories and ergo zero hangups about literally anything: ] So if I asked you to play something for me sometime, would you?

[ it's worse. he does blush, but he still seems kind of amused. this is horrible for everyone involved. ]

Why would I request something sad from you? Doesn't totally suit you, I think.

[ give it a few more hours and he'll sputter and yell and melt into the ballroom floor probably at some point.

he pouts a little again when klavier pulls back, but fine. ]

I don't know yet. [ he considers this... ] Maybe it's not that something sad doesn't suit you, but only if it's something honest. [ a gesture to klavier's face. ] This is a little easy to read. So if you played a sad song, it would mean it came from something actually sad.

[ and he doesn't know klavier, but he doesn't think sadness is a good look on anybody because it's hard. ]

Yes. [ he thinks this even when he's not a pod person. that's sort of a thing apollo's noticed over the months of getting to know klavier. he doesn't always know the depths of what the man is thinking, but he's not easily fooled by his charm and stage persona either. ]

Is that a bad thing?

[ ... that's. hm.

no, that's true. why is he so sure of that. his eyebrows furrow together a little, but he's mulling over that. ]

I'm pretty good at reading people, I think. Even people I've just met. [ understatement of the century. ] And I think you're thinking that you want something from me that I don't think I can give you.

[ he wants some recognition, apollo thinks, but apollo's still fairly sure they've never met. ]

I think you're thinking this isn't fair that I'm not whoever you're thinking of. [ because it's difficult to believe in the idea of "the you that i remember" when that doesn't exist, to him. simultaneously this must be doing something to his brain chemistry because his right hand's gripping at his wrist just below his bracelet, like usual. ]

... okay, let's pretend there's someone like me that you've met before. Who is that person to you? [ this is a genuine question because he has no idea what sort of role a different apollo would play in klavier's life when he himself doesn't have a job, isn't a musician, etc. but klavier can take that however he wants, he supposes. ]

[ there's a period of silence as he seems to assess those words. and he feels a little bad that he's not that guy. ]

Well... must've been a really big thing. [ what do you even say to that? ] I hope you get to say so someday. It seems important to you.

And something tells me you would be persistent enough to keep telling him until he believed it.

[ but oh. yes, well, he can see why klavier would abscond given the circumstances. without thinking he grabs at his hand to hold him there for a second before he seems to think maybe that's not his place. klavier i'm sorry. shakes at rapid speeds trying to unpod apollo. ]

I'm vacationing, sure, but I don't mind getting to know people either. So... don't be a stranger, okay?

[ without all of his issues and memories he's still alphollo so no, he's holding onto the hand. that's fine. ignore that he's blushing again even though it's really not the time for that, but he kind of likes the idea of being invited. ]

Yeah, sure. We don't have anything planned, so sounds fun. [ literally has also forgotten what klavier said their first day here about a party, so that's fun. ] Just tell me where and I'll come by.

[ klavier apologized at the start of this conversation, but he hadn't actually specified what or elaborated. so hearing him say that is nice. it's nice to hear that he knows it's not an excuse, but he's not expecting the compliment or the kiss to his fingers so yes, uselessly, he's just flushing harder.

this time he lets go though. ]

... bye, Klavier. [ what the fuck else is he supposed to say? he will watch him walk away before he goes back to staring at the ocean as i speedrun his unpodding to come back and start a new pc soon hopefully god. ]
